Salem man arraigned for New Year’s Eve murder in Wilsonville

A Salem man accused of murdering Catherine Grace Cross on New Year’s Eve was arraigned Wednesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court.

Jason David Perillo, 51, faces charges of murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, and robbery in the first degree. Cross, 41, was found dead inside her recreational vehicle in Wilsonville on Dec. 31, 2024. Her death was ruled a homicide, with investigators alleging she was stabbed to death.

Authorities said Perillo and Cross were acquaintances. Surveillance video helped Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detectives identify Perillo as a suspect.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Wilsonville Police Department, arrested Perillo in Salem on Feb. 7. He is being held without bail in the Clackamas County Jail.

The case will proceed to a status conference and trial. If convicted of murder in the first degree, Perillo could face a true-life sentence. A conviction for murder in the second degree carries a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
